Zealous Women in Red (WIR) began in 2012 it is an annual fundraiser event where we honor five women who are not afraid to lend a helping hand in their communities, in their churches or at their work place. These women touch the lives of the people they come in contact with.
The funds raised by this annual event are used to give back to the community be it locally or abroad.
The funds raised helped send Barrels to different countries Panama, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica and St. Vincent. The barrels contain food items, toiletries and clothes. The items were distributed to Nursing homes in Panama and to the needed families and communities.
A $500.00 scholarship was created to help any member going to school for a higher education. Therefore, every year $500.00 is awarded to one member in the church who is going back to school to get an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, Masters, PHD or Theological school certificate or degree. We hope to expand more on this project to encourage our members young and/or old to empower themselves through education.
In 2017 WIR donated $1,000.00 to St. Michael Spiritual Baptist Church to help build water wells and a church in India. Our own Bishop Mother Knights went to India in 2016 to see the site and location where the well and church was going to be build.
